Kim Nam-Gil is a prominent South Korean actor born on March 13, 1980. Throughout his career in the entertainment industry, he has worked across both independent and commercial films, as well as high-profile television dramas.

Early Career and Stage Name

Kim Nam-Gil debuted on television with a minor role in the 1998 KBS drama School 1. After winning an audition with MBC Television, he performed in various minor roles. In 2005, he adopted the stage name "Lee Han," under which he took his first lead role in the independent film No Regret (2006). Prior to the release of the 2008 film Public Enemy Returns, he reverted to his birth name upon the advice of director Kang Woo-Suk.

Rise to Prominence

In 2008, Kim starred in the historical commercial film Portrait of a Beauty. His breakthrough arrived in 2009 when he was cast as Bi-dam in the MBC historical drama The Great Queen Seondeok. The series achieved high viewership ratings, significantly increasing his mainstream popularity.

Military Service and Later Projects

Kim began his mandatory military service on July 15, 2010, which led to the shortening of the SBS drama Bad Guy from 20 episodes to 17 episodes. Following his discharge, he continued to star in numerous film and television projects, including The Pirates (2014), Pandora (2016), and contribution to soundtracks such as the SBS drama King of Ambition.
