Kenja no Ai
Kenja no Ai (Japanese: 賢者の愛) is a Japanese television drama series that aired on the WOWOW network in 2016. The series consists of four episodes and was broadcast from August 20 to September 10, 2016, in the Saturday 22:00 time slot.
Background and Production
The series is based on the novel Kenja no Ai, written by Amy Yamada and published on January 10, 2015, by Chuokoron-Shinsha. The television adaptation was directed by Takashi Minamoto.
Plot
The narrative centers on the long-standing relationship between two women, Mayuko Takanaka and Yuri Asakura. The story spans decades, beginning thirty years prior to the main timeline when Mayuko was thirteen years old. At that time, Mayuko lived with her parents, Shogo and Miya, in a large house near the beach, where an aspiring writer named Ryoichi resided in an annex. The arrival of Yuri as a neighbor marked a significant turning point in Mayuko's life.
