Katsuya (Japanese Actor)

Katsuya (Japanese: 勝矢) is a Japanese actor born on May 8, 1975, in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Standing 183 cm tall with blood type A, he has maintained an extensive career in Japanese film and television, appearing in numerous supporting roles across various genres, including action, historical drama, and crime thrillers.

Career and Filmography

Katsuya began working in film and television during the 2000s, with early appearances in projects such as Marebito (2004) and A! Ikkenya Puroresu (2004). Over the subsequent decades, he established a prolific presence in Japanese media, working with notable directors and appearing in major commercial productions.

His film credits encompass a wide range of adaptations and original features. In 2012, he appeared as Marukusu in the comedy hit Thermae Romae, returning for its sequel Thermae Romae II in 2014. Other notable film credits include Crows Zero II (2009), Shield of Straw (2013), Hero (2015), Nobunaga Concerto: The Movie (2016) as Hachisuka Koroku, The Blood of Wolves (2018), and 50 First Kisses (2018). In recent years, he has taken on prominent supporting roles in major adaptations, portraying Tatsuuma Ushiyama in the live-action Golden Kamuy franchise (2024–2026) and Kanmei in Kingdom 5: Kingdom: Tamashii no Kessen (2026).

In addition to his film work, Katsuya has maintained a consistent presence in Japanese television dramas (dorama) across terrestrial and satellite networks. His television credits include appearances in My Boss, My Hero (2006), Don Quixote (2011), Hero (Fuji TV / 2014), Flowers for Algernon (TBS / 2015), and Offbeat Chief Police (Fuji TV / 2016) as Ichitaro Hanaoka. He has also made guest and supporting appearances in streaming and cable series, such as Netflix's live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho (2023) and WOWOW's adaptation of Golden Kamuy: Hokkaido Shisei Shujin Soudatsuhen (2024).
