Karma (South Korean Television Series)

Karma, also known by its Korean title Akyeon (meaning "ill-fated relationship"), is a South Korean crime thriller series released on Netflix in 2025. The series is directed by Lee Il-Hyeong, who also contributed to the writing. The narrative is based on the webcomic Akyeon by Choi Hee-Sun, which was serialized on Kakao from April 2019 to January 2020.

Plot

The series follows the lives of six individuals whose paths become inextricably linked through a series of unfortunate and fateful events. The plot explores themes of trauma, desperation, and the consequences of irreversible decisions. Key characters include a man who witnesses a mysterious accident and enters into a life-altering deal, a doctor named Lee Ju-Yeon who struggles with childhood trauma, and a man who faces financial ruin after a failed cryptocurrency investment. The story further weaves in the lives of a man who loses his job and becomes entangled in a high-stakes financial situation, as well as a private clinic owner in Gangnam and his girlfriend.

Production

Karma consists of six episodes. It was produced for distribution on the Netflix platform. The screenplay was adapted from the original webcomic by Choi Hee-Sun, with director Lee Il-Hyeong overseeing the production.
