Kansahojin (TV Series)

Kansahojin (Japanese: 監査法人), also known as The Auditor, is a Japanese television drama series that aired on NHK from June 14 to July 19, 2008. The series consists of six episodes and explores the professional and ethical challenges encountered by individuals working within the auditing industry.

Plot

The narrative centers on Kenji Wakasugi, an auditor who finds himself navigating the difficult balance between professional duty and personal compassion. Working at an audit firm, Wakasugi frequently clashes with colleagues who are willing to overlook or tolerate window-dressing practices to protect companies struggling during economic downturns. While Wakasugi initially strives to adhere strictly to regulatory rules, he faces internal conflict as he witnesses the human cost of these regulations on clients pushed to the brink of collapse.

Production

The series was directed by Kazuki Watanabe and Tsuyoshi Yanagawa, with a screenplay written by Masao Yajima and Yuji Kobayashi. It was broadcast during the 21:00 time slot on NHK.
