Kagi no nai Yume wo Miru

Kagi no nai Yume wo Miru (Japanese: 鍵のない夢を見る) is a Japanese television drama series that aired on the WOWOW network in 2013. The series consists of five episodes, each presenting a self-contained story. The production is based on the novel of the same name by author Mizuki Tsujimura, which was awarded the 147th Naoki Prize in 2012.

Production

The series was broadcast from September 1 to September 29, 2013, in the Sunday 22:00 time slot. The project involved multiple directors, including Shosuke Murakami, Takao Kinoshita, and Yuko Goto, with scripts adapted by a team of writers including Aya Takei, Tomomi Okubo, Kumiko Aso, and Kumiko Sato.

Episodes

The series is structured as an anthology, with each episode focusing on different characters and themes:

  • Seriba Daigaku no Yume to Satsujin: Miku, a teacher, discovers that her boyfriend, Yudai, is wanted by the police for murder.
  • Miyatani Danchi no Toubousha: Mie, who is in an abusive relationship with Yoji, finds her situation reported to the authorities by her mother.
  • Tsuwabuki Minami Chiku no Houka: Shoko suspects that her former partner, a fireman named Obayashi, may be responsible for a series of arson cases.
  • Nishino Machi no Dorobo: Michiru encounters a childhood classmate while on a trip and recalls a disturbing incident from their past.
  • Kimimoto ke no Yukai: Yoshie, a housewife struggling with the isolation of motherhood, faces a crisis when her infant daughter goes missing at a shopping mall.
