Just Between Lovers

Just Between Lovers (Korean: 그냥 사랑하는 사이; RR: Geunyang Saranghaneun Sai), also known by its English title Rain or Shine, is a South Korean television drama series that aired on the JTBC network. The series consists of 16 episodes and was broadcast from December 11, 2017, to January 31, 2018, in the Monday and Tuesday 23:00 time slot.

Plot

The story follows Lee Gang-Doo (Lee Joon-Ho), a former aspiring soccer player whose life is derailed by a catastrophic accident that results in the death of his father and a severe leg injury. After spending three years in rehabilitation, he struggles to find purpose. His path crosses with Ha Moon-Soo (Won Jin-A), an architecture modeler who survived the same tragedy that claimed the life of her younger sibling. Both characters grapple with survivor's guilt and the emotional aftermath of the disaster, eventually finding solace in one another as they learn to confront their pasts.

Production

The series was directed by Kim Jin-Won and written by Yoo Bo-Ra. It marked a significant scheduling shift for the network, as it was the first JTBC drama series to occupy the Monday and Tuesday 23:00 time slot. Following its conclusion, the network aired Welcome to Waikiki in the same slot starting February 5, 2018. The casting process for the lead female role was extensive, with Won Jin-A selected after participating in auditions alongside 120 other candidates.
