International audiences frequently recognize him for his role as Boss Tanaka in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) and for his powerful performance as the mysterious stranger in Na Hong-jin's acclaimed South Korean thriller The Wailing (2016), for which he received critical acclaim.
