Intruder (Korean: 침입자; RR: Chimibja) is a 2020 South Korean mystery thriller film written and directed by Son Won-pyung. The film explores themes of family dynamics, trauma, and suspicion.

Plot

The story follows Seo-jin, a successful architect who struggles with the lingering trauma of his younger sister, Yoo-jin, going missing during their childhood. Twenty-five years after her disappearance, Yoo-jin unexpectedly returns to the family. While his parents welcome her back, Seo-jin becomes increasingly suspicious of her identity and intentions, sensing that something is fundamentally wrong with her presence in their home.

Production

The film was written and directed by Son Won-pyung. Principal photography commenced on February 13, 2019, and concluded on May 14, 2019. During its development phase, the film was known by the working title Daughter. The film was distributed by Acemaker Movie Works.

Song Ji-hyo as Yoo-jin — Song Ji-hyo portrays the returning sister, Yoo-jin.

Kim Moo-yul as Seo-jin — Kim Moo-yul stars as the architect Seo-jin.

Release

Intruder was originally scheduled for release on May 21, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the theatrical premiere was postponed to June 4, 2020.
