In Between Seasons (Korean: 환절기; RR: Hwanjeolgi) is a 2018 South Korean drama film written and directed by Lee Dong-Eun. The film examines the emotional aftermath of a tragic accident and the discovery of a hidden relationship.

Plot

Mi-Kyung (played by Bae Jong-Ok) is a single mother raising her son, Soo-Hyun (Ji Yoon-Ho). Their quiet life is briefly interrupted during Soo-Hyun's high school years when his friend, Yong-Joon (Lee Won-Geun), stays with them. Years later, following Soo-Hyun's military service, he and Yong-Joon embark on a trip that ends in a severe car accident, leaving Soo-Hyun in a coma. As Mi-Kyung navigates the trauma of her son's condition, she discovers the true nature of the relationship between Soo-Hyun and Yong-Joon, forcing her to confront her own prejudices and feelings.

Production and Release

In Between Seasons was directed and written by Lee Dong-Eun. The film had its festival premiere prior to its general theatrical release in South Korea on February 22, 2018. It was screened in the New Currents section of the 2016 Busan International Film Festival, where it received the KNN Award.
