Hypnotized (2004)

Hypnotized (Korean: 얼굴없는 미녀; RR: Eolguleobtneun Minyeo; lit. Faceless Beauty) is a 2004 South Korean suspense-thriller film written and directed by Kim In-sik. The film explores complex themes of obsession, mental health, and psychological manipulation.

Plot

The story follows Ji-su (Kim Hye-soo), a former novelist struggling with borderline personality disorder. Following a suicide attempt triggered by the discovery of her husband's infidelity, she is institutionalized. After her release, she encounters Seok-won (Kim Tae-woo), a psychiatrist, by chance. The two begin an affair, during which Seok-won uses his professional expertise to hypnotize Ji-su. He manipulates her perception to control their interactions and create the illusion of a passionate relationship, all while grappling with his own unresolved grief following his wife's suicide.
