Hot Young Bloods (2014 Film)

Hot Young Bloods (Korean: 피끓는 청춘; RR: Pikkeulneun Chungchoon) is a South Korean teen romantic comedy film directed by Lee Yeon-woo. The film, which is set in the early 1980s, explores the dynamics of friendship, rivalry, and romance among high school students in Hongseong, South Chungcheong Province.

Plot

The story follows the lives of teenagers in a rural high school. Young-Sook (Park Bo-Young) is the formidable leader of a female gang who harbors a secret affection for Joong-Gil (Lee Jong-Suk), a notorious school playboy who attempts to charm every girl in the school except for her. The arrival of a beautiful transfer student from Seoul, So-Hee (Lee Se-Young), disrupts the status quo, as Joong-Gil becomes infatuated with her. Meanwhile, Gwang-Sik (Kim Young-Kwang), the leader of a rival male gang, considers Young-Sook to be his own, leading to escalating tensions among the group.

Principal photography for Hot Young Bloods commenced on August 1, 2013, in Sunchang, South Jeolla Province. Additional filming took place in Hongseong, South Chungcheong Province. Production concluded on October 28, 2013.
