Hoichori (2011 Film)
Hoichori (Korean: 회초리) is a South Korean drama film released on May 19, 2011. Directed by Park Kwang-Woo, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Park Hyung-Woo, the film explores themes of family reconciliation and traditional values.

Plot
The story is set in a remote village in Kangwon Province, where a traditional school operates with a focus on teaching manners and social conduct. The school is known for its use of the hoichori—a traditional cane—as a disciplinary tool. The school's instructor is the 12-year-old Song-Yi, played by Jin Ji-Hee, who is noted for her strict adherence to the school's rules.
The narrative shifts when Doo-Yul, portrayed by Ahn Nae-Sang, arrives at the school. Doo-Yul is a former gold-medal-winning boxer whose life was derailed following a coma. During his recovery, he believed his wife had died in childbirth and that their daughter had been sent overseas. Unbeknownst to him, the young instructor Song-Yi is actually his daughter. While Song-Yi eventually discovers their biological connection, Doo-Yul remains unaware, leading to a complex emotional journey as they interact within the school environment.
