Highway Family (2022 Film)

Highway Family (Korean: 고속도로 가족; RR: Gosokdoro Gajok) is a 2022 South Korean drama film written and directed by Lee Sang-moon. The film examines the lives of a family struggling with homelessness and their interactions with others while living at highway rest areas.

Plot

The story follows Ki-Woo (played by Jung Il-woo) and his wife, Ji-Sook (Kim Seul-gi), who live with their two children in a state of homelessness. To survive, the family travels between highway rest areas, where Ki-Woo solicits money from travelers under the false pretense of having lost his wallet. The family's precarious existence is challenged when their path crosses with Young-Sun (Ra Mi-ran), who eventually discovers the deceptive nature of Ki-Woo's requests.

The film was directed and written by Lee Sang-moon. It held its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival on October 7, 2022, before receiving a theatrical release in South Korea on November 2, 2022. The film has a runtime of 129 minutes.
