Hide-and-Never Seek (2016 Film)

Hide-and-Never Seek (Korean: 혼숨; RR: Honsoom) is a 2016 South Korean horror film directed by Lee Doo-Hwan. The film explores the dark side of internet broadcasting culture, centering on a live-streamer who encounters supernatural phenomena while investigating a missing person case.

Plot

The story follows BJ Yagwang, played by Ryu Deok-Hwan, and his producer, PD Park, portrayed by Jo Bok-Rae. The duo operates a popular horror-themed live stream on the platform AfreecaTV. In their pursuit of increasingly provocative and frightening content to boost their viewership, they come across a mysterious video depicting a high school student performing a ritual known as "hide-and-seek alone" just before she vanishes. Driven by the potential for viral content, Yagwang and Park travel to the abandoned building where the student was last seen to conduct a live broadcast.

Production

The film was directed by Lee Doo-Hwan, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Jung Hyun-Doo. Principal photography for the project commenced on October 27, 2015, and concluded on December 6, 2015. The film was released in South Korean theaters on October 27, 2016, and was distributed by Prain Global.
