Handphone (2009 Film)

Handphone (Korean: 핸드폰) is a 2009 South Korean thriller film directed by Kim Han-min. The film explores the escalating conflict that arises when a talent agency president loses his mobile phone, which contains sensitive information.

Plot

Oh Seung-min (Uhm Tae-woong) is the ambitious president of a small talent agency. His professional and personal life is heavily dependent on his mobile phone. When he loses the device, he becomes desperate to recover it, leading him into a dangerous confrontation with the person who found it, Jung Lee-gyu (Park Yong-woo).

Production

The film was produced by Tae-ku Heo, Hae-yeong Jeong, and Ju-yeong Eom. Principal photography commenced on September 29, 2008, in Apgujeong, Seoul. The film was distributed by SK Telecom and released in South Korea on February 19, 2009.

Festivals

Handphone was screened at the 13th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in July 2009 as part of the World Fantastic Cinema program. It was also featured at the 6th London Korean Film Festival in November 2011.
