Hana no Kusari (2013 TV Movie)

Hana no Kusari (Japanese: 花の鎖, literally "Chain of Flowers") is a Japanese television drama that aired on Fuji TV on September 17, 2013. The production is based on the 2011 novel of the same name by author Kanae Minato.

Plot

The narrative follows the lives of three women—Rinka, Miyuki, and Satsuki—whose stories become intertwined through a series of revelations and hidden connections.

Rinka (Nao Matsushita) is a woman struggling with financial hardship after the bankruptcy of her workplace, while simultaneously caring for her hospitalized grandmother. She seeks answers regarding "K," a mysterious benefactor who has sent her flowers annually for years. Her search for K's identity leads her to a man claiming to be his secretary.

Miyuki (Miki Nakatani) is married to Kazuya, who works for a firm managed by her cousin, Yosuke. The plot explores the professional and personal tensions that arise when Kazuya wins an architectural design competition, only to have his work credited to Yosuke.

Satsuki (Erika Toda) is a university student and member of a climbing club. Her story involves her relationship with a fellow club member, Koichi, and the discovery of a medical connection between them following a health crisis involving another club member, Kurata.

Production

The drama was directed by Isamu Nakae, with a screenplay written by Eriko Shinozaki. It was adapted from the novel Hana no Kusari, which was published by Bungeishunjū Ltd on March 8, 2011.
