Release and Commercial Performance
Han Gong-ju held its world premiere at the 18th Busan International Film Festival on October 4, 2013. It was subsequently released in South Korean theaters on April 17, 2014. The film achieved notable commercial success for an independent production, reaching 100,000 ticket sales within its first nine days of release. As of April 25, 2014, the film had recorded 104,976 admissions, marking it as the fastest South Korean independent film to reach the 100,000-ticket milestone at that time.

Critical Reception and Awards
The film received significant critical acclaim and was recognized at numerous international film festivals. At the 35th Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2014, the film won awards for Best Actress (Chun Woo-hee) and Best New Director (Lee Su-jin). Chun Woo-hee also received the Best Actress award at the 34th Korean Association of Film Critics Awards and the Best New Actress award at the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards. International recognition included the Golden Star at the 13th Marrakech International Film Festival and the Jury Prize at the 43rd International Film Festival Rotterdam.
