Gwanggaeto, The Great Conqueror

Gwanggaeto, The Great Conqueror (Korean: 광개토태왕) is a South Korean historical television drama that aired on KBS1 from June 4, 2011, to April 29, 2012. The series consists of 92 episodes and was broadcast on Saturday and Sunday nights at 21:40.

Premise

The drama depicts the life and reign of Gwanggaeto the Great (374–413), a monarch of the Goguryeo kingdom. The narrative focuses on his efforts to restore the influence of Goguryeo, reclaim territory from the Baekje kingdom, and establish the state as a dominant power in East Asia.

Production

Directed by Kim Jong-Sun with a screenplay by Jo Myung-Joo and Jang Ki-Chang, the series occupied the Saturday and Sunday 21:40 time slot on KBS1. It followed the conclusion of The King of Legend and was succeeded by King's Dream in August 2012.
