Grass (2018 Film)

Grass (Korean: 풀잎들; RR: Pulipdeul) is a 2018 South Korean drama film written, directed, and produced by Hong Sang-soo. The film is noted for its minimalist aesthetic and focus on human interaction within a confined setting.

Plot

The narrative centers on a small cafe situated in an alleyway. The film follows a woman named A-Reum, who spends her time observing the various patrons of the cafe. As the day progresses, the interactions between the individuals at different tables evolve, and the boundaries between the observers and the observed begin to blur as A-Reum records her reflections on the conversations she witnesses.

Production

Grass was produced and distributed by Jeonwonsa Film, with additional distribution support from Contents Panda. The film features cinematography by Kim Hyung-ku. With a runtime of 66 minutes, it is one of the shorter feature films in Hong Sang-soo's filmography. It was released in South Korea on October 25, 2018.
