Gourmet (Korean: 식객; RR: Sikgaek) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on SBS from June 17 to September 9, 2008. The series, which consists of 24 episodes, focuses on the competitive and artistic world of traditional Korean cuisine.

Background

The series is based on the popular manhwa Sikgaek by cartoonist Heo Young-man, which began serialization in 2002. The story centers on Lee Sung-chan, a passionate chef-in-training, and his journey to master the culinary arts while navigating complex relationships and professional rivalries.

Plot

Lee Sung-chan, portrayed by Kim Rae-won, is a bright and dedicated chef working under the guidance of Master Oh Sook-soo, played by Choi Bul-am. As the narrative progresses, a rivalry develops between Sung-chan and his stepbrother, Bong-joo, over the future leadership of their family's renowned restaurant. The plot explores themes of culinary tradition, personal growth, and the pursuit of excellence in cooking, accompanied by Kim Jin-soo, a character played by Nam Sang-mi who aspires to be a food columnist.
