Goryeo-Khitan War (Korean: 고려거란전쟁) is a South Korean historical television series that aired on KBS2 from November 11, 2023, to March 10, 2024. The drama consists of 32 episodes and focuses on the historical conflicts between the Goryeo Dynasty and the Khitan-led Liao Dynasty.
Plot
The series chronicles the political and military challenges faced by the Goryeo state during the 11th century. The narrative centers on the leadership of King Hyeonjong, portrayed by Kim Dong-Jun, and the strategic military guidance of Commander-in-Chief Gang Gam-chan, played by Choi Soo-Jong. The plot follows their efforts to unify the people of Goryeo and organize a defense against the Khitan invasions.
Production
The series was directed by Jeon Woo-Sung and Kim Han-Sol, with a screenplay written by Lee Jung-Woo. It was broadcast on the KBS2 network on Saturday and Sunday nights at 21:20. During its broadcast, the schedule for episodes 25 and 26 was adjusted due to the Lunar New Year holiday; these episodes were moved from the weekend of February 10–11, 2024, to the weekend of February 17–18, 2024.
