Good Casting (South Korean Television Series)

Good Casting is a South Korean television series that aired on SBS from April 27 to June 16, 2020. The drama, which blends action and comedy, follows the story of a former National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent who returns to the field under unexpected circumstances.

Plot

Baek Chan-Mi, portrayed by Choi Gang-Hee, was once a legendary black agent for the NIS. Her career took a turn after a mission resulted in the death of a subordinate and the failure to capture her primary target. Following disciplinary action, she was reassigned to the NIS cyber security team. The narrative centers on her return to active duty when she is selected to go undercover at Il Kwang Hitech, the largest company in Korea, to investigate a case involving intellectual property theft.

Production

The series was directed by Choi Hyeong-Hun and written by Park Ji-Ha. During its development phase, the project was known by the working title Miscasting. The show occupied the Monday and Tuesday 22:00 time slot on SBS, succeeding the drama Nobody Knows and preceding Do You Like Brahms?.

Trivia

In the epilogue of episode 13, actor Nam Sung-Jin makes a cameo appearance as a security guard manager at Il Kwang Hitech. In the scene, he reprimands the character Hwang Mi-Soon, played by Kim Ji-Young. Notably, Nam Sung-Jin and Kim Ji-Young are married in real life.
