Golden Garden

Golden Garden (Korean: 황금정원; RR: Hwanggeumjungwon) is a South Korean television series that aired on MBC from July 20 to October 26, 2019. The drama consists of 60 episodes and was broadcast in the Saturday 21:00 time slot, with four 30-minute episodes airing per day.

Plot

The story follows Eun Dong-Joo (played by Han Ji-Hye), a woman who was abandoned at an orphanage at the age of six. Despite her difficult upbringing and the loss of her early memories, she maintains a bright and resilient personality. The narrative centers on her efforts to reclaim her stolen life. She crosses paths with Cha Pil-Seung (Lee Sang-Woo), a skilled detective who was raised by his wealthy grandmother following the death of his parents. Despite his professional success and popularity, he struggles with emotional trauma related to his parents' deaths, which prevents him from forming romantic attachments.

Production

The series was directed by Lee Dae-Young and Lee Dong-Hyun, with a screenplay written by Park Hyeon-Ju. The first script reading for the production took place in May 2019. The series replaced Different Dreams in its time slot and was succeeded by Never Twice on November 2, 2019. Lead actors Han Ji-Hye and Lee Sang-Woo previously worked together on the 2018 KBS2 series Marry Me Now?.
