Gibo to Musume no Blues (Japanese: 義母と娘のブルース), often referred to in English as Stepmom and Daughter Blues, is a Japanese television drama series that aired on the Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) network. The series was broadcast from July 10 to September 18, 2018, in the Tuesday 22:00 time slot.
Background and Production
The series is based on the manga Gibo to Musume no Blues, written by Rin Sakurazawa and published by Bunkasha on February 14, 2011. The television adaptation was written by Yoshiko Morishita and directed by Yuichiro Hirakawa and Yuji Nakamae.
Plot
The story follows Akiko Iwaki, portrayed by Haruka Ayase, a dedicated and career-oriented woman. Her life changes significantly when she marries Ryoichi Miyamoto, played by Yutaka Takenouchi, who has a young daughter. The narrative centers on Akiko's efforts to balance her professional life with the challenges of domestic life and building a relationship with her new stepdaughter.
