Ghost Taxi (2000 Film)

Ghost Taxi (Korean: 공포택시; RR: Kongpyo Taxi) is a 2000 South Korean horror-comedy film directed by Heo Seung-Jun. The film centers on the supernatural experiences of a taxi driver who continues to operate his vehicle after his death.

Plot

Gil-nam (played by Lee Seo-Jin) is a dedicated taxi driver who intends to propose to his girlfriend, Yu-jeong (Choi Yu-Jeong). His life is abruptly cut short when he is killed in a hit-and-run accident while on his way to meet her. Forty-nine days after his death, Gil-nam returns as a ghost driving a mysterious taxi. As he searches for his girlfriend, he encounters other spectral taxi drivers, including characters known as "OK" (Jung Hae-Kyun) and "Nonstop" (Jung Jae-Young). These spirits spend their afterlife terrifying human passengers with reckless driving. During his journey, Gil-nam learns about a legendary ghost taxi driver nicknamed "Mantis," who is notorious for committing a series of fatal hit-and-run accidents.

Production and Release

The film was directed by Heo Seung-Jun, with cinematography by Ji Kil-Woong. It was released in South Korea on September 30, 2000, and has a runtime of 94 minutes.
