Gekikaradou

Gekikaradou is a Japanese television drama series that aired on TV Tokyo from January 6 to March 24, 2021. The series consists of 12 episodes and explores the intersection of corporate life and the culinary appreciation of spicy food.

Plot

The story follows Kenta Sarukawa, a talented employee at the Osaka head office of a beverage company called Ronron. After being recognized for his professional capabilities, he is transferred to the sales promotion department at a branch office in Tokyo. Upon his arrival, he begins working under the guidance of department chief Kazuhiko Tanioka and alongside colleague Yuma Okochi. Both Tanioka and Okochi are enthusiasts of spicy cuisine, and through their influence, Sarukawa begins to develop an appreciation for spicy dishes.

Production

The series was directed by Keisuke Shibata, Paul Young, and Tatsuro Nishikawa. The screenplay was written by Masahiro Yoshimoto, Yu Kanda, Yosuke Masaike, and Takaaki Honda. A sequel, titled Gekikaradou 2, was released in 2023.
