First Cry (Japanese: ファーストクライ 母子救命救急班, Romaji: First Cry: Boshi Kyumei Kyukyuhan) is a Japanese television drama series broadcast on the Nippon Television (NTV) network. The series is scheduled to premiere on July 8, 2026, occupying the Wednesday 22:00 time slot.

Production and Broadcast
The series is directed by Taro Otani and Jin Ueda, with a screenplay written by Hideya Hamada. First Cry broadcasts during NTV's Wednesday 22:00 time slot, taking over the schedule previously occupied by Getsuya Kouro and preceding Merry Berry Love in October 2026.
Plot Synopsis
Set against the backdrop of an obstetrician shortage that leaves hospitals struggling to accommodate high-risk pregnant women, the narrative follows a clandestine maternal and child emergency team. Created secretly by the director of a luxury hospital in Tokyo, the team is tasked with providing free medical care to pregnant women who have been turned away elsewhere. The unit is led by Aki Mitsui, a highly skilled OB-GYN who experiences hearing loss in one ear yet remains deeply dedicated to hearing a newborn's first cry. Despite her cheerful disposition and appreciation for food and drink, she carries emotional scars tied to her own birth.
