Finding a Child (2021 TV Special)

Finding a Child (Korean: 아이를 찾습니다; RR: Aireul Chatseubmida) is a two-episode South Korean television drama special that aired on JTBC in March 2021. The production was part of the JTBC Drama Festa series, which features short-form drama projects.

Background and Production

The drama is based on the short story Aireul Chatseubmida by author Kim Young-Ha, which was originally published in the literary magazine Munhakdongne in 2017. The television adaptation was directed by Jo Yong-Won and written by Kim Bo-Ra. It occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:00 time slot on JTBC, following the conclusion of Off The Course.

Plot

The story follows Jo Yoon-Seok (played by Park Hyuk-Kwon) and his wife, Kang Mi-Ra (Jang So-Yeon), whose three-year-old son, Sung-Min, disappears while at a store. The narrative spans over a decade as the parents continue their search. When they finally recover their son after 11 years, the couple discovers that the trauma and complications stemming from his initial disappearance continue to affect their lives, challenging their expectations of returning to normalcy.
