Empire of Gold

Empire of Gold (Korean: 황금의 제국; RR: Hwanggeumui Jegoog) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on SBS from July 1 to September 17, 2013. The series consists of 24 episodes and was broadcast on Monday and Tuesday nights at 21:55.

Production

The series was directed by Jo Nam-Kook and written by Park Kyung-Soo. The production team, including the director, screenwriter, and actor Son Hyun-Joo, had previously collaborated on the 2012 SBS drama The Chaser. The first script reading was held on May 1, 2013, at the SBS Production Center in Tanhyeon-dong, Ilsan. Principal photography commenced on May 14, 2013, in Incheon, South Korea, with the first scenes featuring actors Ko Soo and Yoon Seung-Ah.

Plot

The narrative spans two decades, beginning in the 1990s, and follows the intense power struggles within a family as members compete for control and dominance.
