Emergency 19 (2002 Film)

Emergency 19 (Korean: 긴급조치 19호; RR: Gimgeubjochi 19ho) is a 2002 South Korean comedy film directed by Kim Tae-Gyu. The film explores a satirical premise in which musicians and performers around the world begin to rise to high-level political offices.

Plot

The story is set in a world where popular musicians are increasingly being elected to significant government positions, such as Prime Minister or Vice President. In South Korea, the government and military leadership view this trend as a threat to national stability. In response, they implement "Emergency Order 19," a decree that bans all music. The military subsequently takes action to enforce this ban by closing music stores, arresting performers, and removing pop groups from stages.

Production

The film was directed by Kim Tae-Gyu and written by Kim Eun-Tae. It was produced by Seo Se-Weon and Song Chang-Yong. The film has a runtime of 100 minutes and was released in South Korea on July 12, 2002.
