Dr. Romantic 2 (South Korean Television Series)
Dr. Romantic 2, also known by its Korean title Nangmandakteo Kimsaboo 2, is a South Korean medical drama series that aired on SBS in 2020. It serves as the second installment in the Dr. Romantic franchise, following the 2016 original series and preceding the 2023 sequel, Dr. Romantic 3.
Production and Release
The series was directed by Yu In-sik and Lee Gil-bok, with a screenplay written by Kang Eun-kyung. The first script reading took place in September 2019 at the SBS Ilsan Production Studios in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The drama premiered on January 6, 2020, and concluded its 16-episode run on February 25, 2020. It occupied the Monday and Tuesday 22:00–23:10 time slot on SBS, following the conclusion of the series VIP and preceding Nobody Knows.
Plot
The story centers on Kim Sabu (portrayed by Han Suk-kyu), a talented but reclusive surgeon who operates the modest Doldam Hospital. The narrative follows the arrival of two surgical fellows, Cha Eun-jae (Lee Sung-kyung) and Seo Woo-jin (Ahn Hyo-seop). Cha Eun-jae is a confident and intelligent surgeon who has faced little adversity, while Seo Woo-jin is a cynical, highly skilled surgeon shaped by a difficult upbringing. Under the guidance of Kim Sabu, both characters undergo personal and professional development.
