Doona! (South Korean Television Series)

Doona! is a South Korean romantic drama television series released on Netflix on October 20, 2023. Directed by Lee Jung-Hyo, the series consists of nine episodes and is based on the webcomic Lee Doo-Na! by Min Song-Ah, which was serialized on Naver between July 2019 and July 2022.

Plot

The story follows Lee Doo-Na (played by Bae Suzy), a former main vocalist and the most popular member of an idol girl group who abruptly announces her retirement. Following her departure from the entertainment industry, she lives in a share house near a university, largely avoiding public life. Her path crosses with Lee Won-Jun (played by Yang Se-Jong), an ordinary, warm-hearted university student who moves into the same share house. As they navigate their living arrangement, a romantic connection develops between them.

Production

The series marks the first acting project for Yang Se-Jong following the completion of his mandatory military service, which spanned from May 12, 2020, to November 15, 2021. The production was distributed internationally by Netflix.

Cast

The main cast features Bae Suzy as the retired idol Lee Doo-Na and Yang Se-Jong as the university student Lee Won-Jun. The supporting cast includes various residents of the share house and individuals from the protagonists' pasts and academic lives.
