Doctor Stranger (South Korean TV Series)
Doctor Stranger (Korean: 닥터 이방인; RR: Dakteo Yibangin) is a South Korean medical drama television series that aired on SBS from May 5 to July 8, 2014. The series consists of 20 episodes and was broadcast in the Monday and Tuesday 21:55 time slot.
Plot
The story follows Park Hoon (Lee Jong-suk), a man who, along with his father, is kidnapped and taken to North Korea during his childhood. Raised in the North, Park Hoon is trained by his father to become a skilled cardiothoracic surgeon. After eventually fleeing to South Korea, he secures a position at the prestigious Myungwoo University Hospital. Despite his professional expertise, he struggles to integrate into the competitive environment of the South Korean medical system while working to earn enough money to reunite with his lost love from North Korea.
Production
The series was directed by Jin Hyeok with a screenplay written by Park Jin-woo. The first script reading for the production took place on February 11, 2014, at the SBS Ilsan Production Center in Tanhyun, South Korea. The event was attended by lead cast members Lee Jong-suk, Park Hae-jin, and Kang So-ra. Jin Se-yun was officially confirmed as a cast member following the completion of her filming commitments for the drama Inspiring Generation.
