Doctor Slump (South Korean TV Series)

Doctor Slump is a South Korean television series that aired on JTBC from January 27 to March 17, 2024. The romantic comedy drama, directed by Oh Hyun-Jong and written by Baek Sun-Woo, consists of 16 episodes and was broadcast in the Saturday and Sunday 22:30 time slot.

Plot

The story follows Yeo Jeong-Woo (Park Hyung-Sik) and Nam Ha-Neul (Park Shin-Hye), two individuals who were academic rivals during their school years. Yeo Jeong-Woo, formerly a top-performing student, becomes a successful plastic surgeon until his career is derailed by a mysterious medical accident. Nam Ha-Neul, once celebrated for her extreme intelligence, works as an anesthesiologist. Overwhelmed by a life defined solely by academic and professional achievement, she experiences a period of profound unhappiness. The two characters reunite during a low point in their respective lives, finding comfort in one another and eventually developing a romantic relationship.

Production

The series marks a reunion for lead actors Park Hyung-Sik and Park Shin-Hye, who previously appeared together in the 2013 SBS drama The Heirs. The production held its first script reading on March 4, 2023. The drama occupied the JTBC time slot previously held by Welcome to Samdal-ri and was succeeded by Hide on March 23, 2024.
