Doctor Jin (South Korean TV series)

Doctor Jin (Korean: 닥터진) is a South Korean television series that aired on MBC from May 26 to August 12, 2012. The drama, which blends elements of medical, fantasy, and historical fiction, is based on the manga series Jin by Motoka Murakami, which was serialized in the magazine Super Jump from 2000 to 2010.

Plot

The story follows Jin-Hyuk (played by Song Seung-Heon), a highly skilled and confident neurosurgeon with a near-perfect success rate. His life takes a dramatic turn when he is transported back in time to the Joseon Dynasty. Upon arriving in this historical period, he encounters individuals who resemble people from his modern life, including his girlfriend, Yoo Mi-Na (Park Min-Young). Jin-Hyuk must navigate the political and social complexities of the era while utilizing his modern medical knowledge to treat patients in a time before modern medicine existed.

Production

Filming for the series commenced on April 21, 2012. The first scene was shot at a university hospital in Gangwon Province, featuring the initial meeting between the characters Jin-Hyuk and Yoo Mi-Na. The series occupied the Saturday and Sunday 21:45 time slot on MBC, succeeding Feast of the Gods and preceding May Queen. Due to the 2012 London Olympics, the broadcast schedule for episode 21 was adjusted from Saturday, August 4, to Sunday, August 5, 2012.
