Daijobu 3 Kumi

Daijobu 3 Kumi (English title: Nobody's Perfect) is a 2013 Japanese drama film directed by Ryuichi Hiroki. The film is based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by Hirotada Ototake, which was published by Kodansha in 2010. The story explores the experiences of a teacher who was born without arms and legs and his interactions with his elementary school students.

Plot

The film centers on the relationship between Shinnosuke Akao, a new teacher born with physical disabilities, and his 5th-grade class. The narrative is presented from the perspective of Yusaku Shiraishi, a school board member who observes the classroom dynamics.

Production

The film was produced by Masatoshi Takeyama and distributed by Toho. Principal photography commenced on January 8, 2012, in Shiga Prefecture, utilizing a closed school as a primary filming location. Production concluded in February 2012.

Release and Reception

Daijobu 3 Kumi was released in Japan on March 23, 2013. Prior to its wide release, the film was featured as a pre-opening screening at the 8th Osaka Asian Film Festival in March 2013.
