Daehani, Minguksshi (2008 Film)

Daehani, Minguksshi (Korean: 대한이,민국씨), released internationally as Life is Beautiful, is a 2008 South Korean comedy-drama film directed by Choi Jin-won. The film follows the lives of two lifelong friends as they navigate personal goals and societal expectations.

Plot

The story centers on Dae-han (Choi Sung-guk) and his best friend Min-kuk (Kong Hyung-jin), who have known Ji-eun (Choi Jung-won), a local hairdresser, since childhood. Dae-han harbors a deep desire to marry Ji-eun. His resolve is strengthened after he overhears a soldier suggesting that military service is a hallmark of a responsible man and an ideal husband. Motivated by this, Dae-han attempts to enlist in the military, only to be rejected due to his lack of formal education. Determined to prove himself, he and Min-kuk embark on a journey to obtain their educational qualifications, hoping to eventually enlist and win Ji-eun's heart.

The film was directed by Choi Jin-won, with a screenplay written by Kim Eun-tae and Baek Sang-yeol. It was produced by Kim Eun-tae and Park Tae-joon and distributed by Lotte Entertainment. The cinematography was handled by Kim Young-chul.
