Dae Mul (South Korean Television Series)

Dae Mul (Korean: 대물) is a South Korean political drama series that aired on SBS from October 6 to December 23, 2010. The 24-episode series explores the political journey of Seo Hye-rim, who rises to become the first female president of South Korea. The drama is based on the comic series of the same name by Park In-kwon.

Plot Summary

The story follows Seo Hye-rim (played by Ko Hyun-jung), an announcer who enters politics after the death of her husband. Her career progresses from a member of the National Assembly to the provincial governor of Namhae County, eventually leading to her election as the first female president of South Korea. Her presidency is marked by significant challenges, including political opposition and an impeachment attempt stemming from diplomatic controversies. Throughout her tenure, she receives support from Ha Do-ya (Kwon Sang-woo), a dedicated prosecutor who seeks to expose corruption within the political establishment.

Production

The series was directed by Oh Jong-rok and Jo Hyun-tak, with a screenplay written by Hwang Eun-kyung and Yoo Dong-yoon. It was produced for the SBS network and broadcast on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 21:55.
