Confidential Assignment (2017 Film)

Confidential Assignment (Korean: 공조; RR: Gongjo) is a 2017 South Korean action film directed by Kim Sung-Hoon. The film centers on a collaborative investigation between North and South Korean authorities to apprehend a criminal who has fled across the border.

Plot

Im Chul-Ryung (Hyun-Bin), an officer in a North Korean special investigation unit, is tasked with recovering stolen master plates used for printing counterfeit currency. During a raid on a warehouse, his superior, Cha Ki-Sung (Kim Ju-Hyeok), betrays the team, leading to a deadly shootout in which Im's colleagues are killed. When North Korean officials discover that Cha has escaped to South Korea, they initiate a rare cooperative mission with South Korean authorities to capture him. Im Chul-Ryung is given three days to complete the mission. In Seoul, he is paired with detective Kang Jin-Tae (Yu Hae-Jin), who is ordered to monitor his activities closely while they track the fugitive.

Production

Principal photography for the film commenced on March 10, 2016, and concluded on July 15, 2016. The production was filmed on location in Seoul, South Korea.
