Collective Invention (2015 Film)
Collective Invention (Korean: 돌연변이; RR: Dolyeonbyuni) is a 2015 South Korean black comedy-drama film written and directed by Kwon Oh-Kwang. The film explores themes of social satire and media sensationalism through the story of a man who undergoes a physical transformation.

Plot
The story follows Park Goo (played by Lee Kwang-Soo), a young man who becomes the subject of a medical experiment. As a result of side effects from an experimental drug, he mutates into a man-fish. His condition attracts intense media attention, turning him into a temporary celebrity. However, he soon becomes the target of a corporate conspiracy involving the pharmaceutical company responsible for his condition, leading to efforts to marginalize him from society.
Production
The film's screenplay was selected through the "Butterfly Project," a competition sponsored by CJ E&M designed to support debut or second-time film directors by providing funding for their projects. Principal photography for the film commenced on November 10, 2014, in South Korea.

Release and Festivals
Collective Invention held its world premiere at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival in September 2015, where it was screened in the Vanguard section. It was subsequently featured at the 20th Busan International Film Festival in October 2015 as part of the Open Cinema program. The film was released theatrically in South Korea on October 22, 2015.
