Coin Locker (2015 Film)

Coin Locker is a South Korean drama film released on May 28, 2015. Directed and written by Kim Tae-kyung, the film explores themes of desperation and familial struggle.

Plot

The story follows Yeon, played by Son Yeo-eun, who seeks to escape her life with her husband, Sang-pil (Lee Young-hoon). Faced with her husband's gambling debts and violent behavior, Yeon attempts to secure a future for her son by planning a move to New Zealand. In a desperate act, she leaves her son in a subway coin locker while she attempts to raise the necessary funds.

Production

Principal photography for the film took place in 2011, beginning on September 5 and concluding on October 7. The film later held its international premiere at the 2015 Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART).
