History and Corporate Structure

The company traces its roots to 1995, emerging from the broader CJ Corporation, which was formerly known as Cheil Jedang. While CJ Corporation originated as a food manufacturing business, it expanded into the media sector through the establishment of its entertainment arm. In 2000, CJ Entertainment was formally established as a subsidiary of the parent corporation. Two years later, in 2002, the company achieved a significant corporate milestone by becoming the first entertainment group to be listed on the KOSDAQ, the South Korean stock exchange.

CJ Entertainment has played a central role in the development of the modern South Korean film industry.
