Chunhwa Love Story

Chunhwa Love Story (Korean: 춘화연애담) is a South Korean historical drama series that premiered on the streaming platform TVING in 2025. The series consists of 10 episodes and was directed by Lee Gwang-Young with a screenplay written by Seo Eun-Jung.

Plot

The story is set in the fictional country of Dongbangguk. The narrative centers on Princess Hwari, played by Go Ara, who is the youngest princess of the royal family. Known for her independent spirit, Hwari reaches the age of marriage and decides to take control of her own destiny. She ventures outside the palace walls to personally search for a husband. During her journey, she also seeks to identify the artist responsible for a series of erotic chunhwa paintings that depict her as the main female character.

Her path crosses with Choi Hwan, portrayed by Chang Ryul, who is the wealthiest merchant in the region and a primary candidate for the princess's hand in marriage. While he presents himself as a man of leisure and wealth, he harbors a hidden secret that complicates his relationship with the princess.

Production

The production of Chunhwa Love Story experienced a significant change during its casting phase. Actress Ko Ah-Sung was originally cast in the lead role of Princess Hwari. However, she was forced to withdraw from the project following an injury sustained during her personal time. Consequently, filming was temporarily suspended to accommodate the change in casting, and production eventually resumed with Go Ara taking on the role of the princess.
