Choked (2012 South Korean Film)

Choked (Korean: 가시) is a South Korean drama film directed by Kim Joong-Hyun. Produced by KAFA Films, the movie examines the emotional and structural disintegration of a family, focusing on the central role of the mother in the household's decline and the resulting impact on her son.

Production

The film was produced under the auspices of KAFA Films. Principal photography for the project took place between January 17 and February 25, 2011.

Release and Festivals

Choked held its world premiere at the 16th Busan International Film Festival in October 2011, where it was featured in the New Currents section. Following its domestic release on March 8, 2012, the film was screened at several international events, including the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival in February 2012, where it held its international premiere in the Forum section.
