Children of Heaven (2012 South Korean Film)

Children of Heaven (Korean: 천국의 아이들; RR: Chungukui Ahyideul) is a 2012 South Korean drama film directed by Park Heung-sik. The film explores themes of education and youth development within a school setting.

Plot

The narrative centers on Yoo-Jin, a temporary teacher who arrives at a school for a three-month assignment. She is tasked with managing a class of students considered troubled. Among her students are Jung-Hoon, a former soccer player removed from his team following a violent incident, and Sung-Ah, a student living with her mother who is an immigrant from Yanbian, China. In an effort to engage her students and foster a sense of community, Yoo-Jin encourages them to participate in a musical performance for a talent show hosted by the district office.

Production

The film was directed by Park Heung-sik, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Choi A-reum. Principal photography for the project commenced on October 1, 2011. The film was released in South Korea on May 24, 2012, with a total runtime of 100 minutes.
