Chihwaseon
Chihwaseon (Korean: 취화선), released internationally as Painted Fire, is a 2002 South Korean biographical drama film directed by Im Kwon-taek. The film depicts the life and artistic evolution of the 19th-century Joseon dynasty painter Jang Seung-up, known by his pen name Oh-won.

Plot
The narrative follows the life of Jang Seung-up (played by Choi Min-sik), a man of humble origins who rises to become one of the most celebrated painters of the late Joseon period. The story begins in the 1850s when a young Jang is rescued from a beating by Kim Byung-moon (Ahn Sung-kee), a scholar who recognizes the boy's innate artistic talent. Under Kim's mentorship, Jang develops his craft and adopts the name Oh-won. As he matures, Jang navigates the turbulent political landscape of Korea, struggling to reconcile his artistic pursuit with the social constraints and personal turmoil of his era.
