Chicago Typewriter (Korean: 시카고 타자기) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on the cable network tvN in 2017. The series, written by Jin Soo-Wan and directed by Kim Cheol-Kyu, consists of 16 episodes. The narrative explores themes of reincarnation, connecting the lives of individuals living under Japanese colonial rule in the 1930s with their present-day counterparts.

Plot

The story centers on three main characters whose past lives during the 1930s Japanese occupation of Korea influence their current circumstances. The protagonist is a bestselling author struggling with a creative slump, who becomes entangled with a mysterious ghostwriter and a dedicated anti-fan. As the plot progresses, the characters discover the connections between their past and present identities.

Production and Broadcast

The series aired from April 7 to June 3, 2017. During its broadcast, the schedule underwent several adjustments due to external events. Episode 7 and Episode 8 were aired consecutively on Saturday, April 29, 2017, to accommodate the South Korean presidential election. Additionally, the broadcast of episodes 9 and 10 was delayed from their original May 2017 dates to May 12 and May 13, 2017, due to the "Golden Week" holiday period.
