Chi no Shio: Yamamuro Gunpei is a 2017 Japanese biographical film directed by Masatoshi Tojo. The film chronicles the life of Gunpei Yamamuro (1872–1940), a prominent figure in Japanese Christian history who became the first Japanese officer of The Salvation Army.

Background and Plot
The film follows the early life of Gunpei Yamamuro, born into a family facing significant economic hardship. After being adopted, he eventually left his home at the age of 15 to pursue education in Tokyo. During his time in the city, he encountered Christian teachings, which inspired his commitment to charity. He later enrolled at the Doshisha Seminary in Kyoto. His journey eventually led him to join The Salvation Army, where he became its first Japanese officer.
