Cat Funeral (2015 Film)
Cat Funeral (Korean: 고양이 장례식; RR: Goyangi Jangryesik) is a 2015 South Korean romance film directed by Lee Jong-Hoon. The film is based on the webcomic of the same name by the author known as Hong, which was serialized online between May 16, 2009, and July 4, 2009.
Plot
The story centers on Dong-Hoon and Jae-Hee, a former couple who shared a life together, including raising a cat named Gooreumi. Following their breakup, Dong-Hoon continued to care for the cat. After the cat passes away, Dong-Hoon contacts Jae-Hee to inform her of the news. This leads to their first meeting in a year, during which they embark on a two-day trip to hold a funeral for their pet.
Production
The film was directed by Lee Jong-Hoon, who also contributed to the screenplay. Production began in November 2013. The film was distributed by Indie Plug and received its theatrical release in South Korea on January 15, 2015.
